Anyone who teaches picky teenage students will be excited to learn about this fresh new series of books. I was impressed to find music that sounded more like something I would hear at a jazz club than music I would expect to teach to junior high students...
-
On top of all the great pedagogy, the pieces are quirky, harmonically interesting...and are just fun to play, fun to listen to, and good selections for a student piano recital.

Mr. Perl has given us some really sophisticated contemporary jazz music that can be really played well by pianists with limited experience or limited dexterity. The pieces don't feel watered down or childish, no stereotypes here. This music is appropriate for young people up to octogenarians...

This series is well-written and, I believe, has a wonderful purpose and place in our piano lessons. Whether you use it for fun recital pieces, for instruction on chords and harmony, or simply for occasional sight reading, it will be a great asset to the musical training of our students.

Anyone who teaches knows the challenge of finding music that sounds contemporary and inspires but is still manageable for intermediate-level students. The color book series offers a superb solution!
-
The pieces are appealing to the ear and would make a great supplemental book for a student interested in blues and jazz styles...they would work equally well both for young students and teen/adult students.
-
Melody Piano gives the compositions a huge A+! I would sincerely reccomend them to any musician...I am confident that my students would say the same thing considering the fun they are having working with each new song!

The books "achieve so much of musical interest and harmonic variety in otherwise simple pedagogical music. I know this to be a very difficult goal to achieve..." Albert Frantz, Key-notes.com
